Ethiopia and Tatarstan: How They Met

A warm welcome was held at the BRICS Mobility office in Ethiopia. We were visited by young women currently working at an industrial plant in Tatarstan. They had returned home on vacation and would be back on the production line in just a few weeks.

The largest industrial plants in Tatarstan have modern infrastructure, and their personnel issues are addressed systematically, including through the recruitment of foreign employees.

How BRICS Mobility trains personnel

We prepared this group at the employer's request for several months, supporting them from the initial interview to their departure to Russia. The entire process was supervised by our specialists in Ethiopia.

What the training included:

Selection and introductory Russian language course;
Document processing;
Pre-departure training and adaptation programs.

Upon arrival in Tatarstan, the young women underwent a 21-day quarantine (as required by law). During this period, all necessary permits were processed.

Today, they work a 2/2 schedule: two workdays alternate with two days of Russian language classes and adaptation programs.

"The preparation was very helpful."

The girls arrived in Russia in winter. And what surprised them most was the cold. -14 degrees Celsius was a real shock for those who had never seen snow. It's good that we prepared them for it in advance: we talked about the climate, living conditions, and the specifics of the work.

The girls themselves note that the preparation provided by BRICS Mobility was very helpful. The team is close-knit, and people from different countries work at the company. The conditions are comfortable, and that's the main thing.

"The people in Russia are very nice, we like it," our guests smile.

Distinctive features of the national cuisine

There were some small discoveries. The girls honestly admitted that buckwheat isn't their thing. They miss their familiar Ethiopian food. They will bring a separate suitcase of groceries back to Russia from their vacation.

Such details are important. They remind us that no matter how well-prepared we are, there are still things we need to get used to. Our task is to smooth these transitions and make them as comfortable as possible.

Why Ethiopia

The average age in Ethiopia is 19. It is one of the youngest countries in the world, with a rapidly growing population and high unemployment. At the same time, Ethiopia is the only Orthodox country on the African continent, making it culturally close to Russia. And, of course, the country is a member of BRICS.

Therefore, BRICS Mobility is actively working in Ethiopia: selecting, training, and supporting candidates who want to work in Russia.

What the women themselves say

They are already recommending jobs in Russia to their relatives and friends through BRICS Mobility. “I remember the first time I came to you. By then, I’d been unsuccessfully searching for a good job in Ethiopia for two years,” says 23-year-old Anna. “I heard from friends that BRICS Mobility was offering work in Russia and decided to give it a try. I took the professional assessment, then studied Russian. They gave us a fascinating account of the culture and climate, and showed us videos of where we would be working and living. When I arrived, everything was new, of course, but somehow familiar; I wasn’t afraid.”

The trust of those who’ve been through the whole process is our best reward. They went to Russia, returned on vacation, and plan to return. This means the system works; our client’s HR department no longer has to worry about staffing shifts, and management no longer has to worry about meeting their plan.

Done by professionals

This is just one example of how BRICS Mobility works in recruiting countries. We don’t just “bring people in.” We:

select candidates for specific tasks;
We prepare them for work and life in a new country;
We support them throughout every stage;
We maintain contact once they've arrived.

We know the country where we recruit people, its culture, and its nuances. And we share this knowledge with our clients.
